How the Blue Wrens came from Sydney to Bridgetown…..

Once upon a time there were 2 little Blue Wrens who lived in a small garden in a big city in Australia. Blue Wrens are very special little birds because they have the brightest blue feathers and love hopping around on lawns to look for bugs to eat. The garden they lived in also had a little dog who played with them and a very kind family.

They were happy living there but thought sometimes that a big garden with lots of trees and other birds might be a good home for them. One day the lady who lived there opened a jar of jelly in their garden and they smelt the most wonderful perfume.

They knew they would have to fly a long way to find the home of this perfume and set off on their journey. They flew for many days over dry, sandy and rocky country with no lawns for them to hop on. It was very hot and they were very thirsty and hungry.

After a long time they came to another city and they could just smell a little bit of the perfume. They followed the scent and eventually came to a little town with lots of trees and gardens. The scent of the wonderful perfume was strong in this town and they were able to find the garden from where it came.

This garden had lots of trees, green lawns, lovely pink, blue and cream flowers, little water ponds, and lots of other birds to play with. The little Blue Wrens knew this garden was where they would be very happy to live. They found the flowers with the wonderful perfume they had smelt so many days ago, they found lots of bugs in the lawns and they even found a special place where they could rest in a tree. They were very happy.
